What To Buy In Japan! My Tokyo Haul (50+ Items)

Tokyo Japan Beauty Haul. Best Things to Buy

I was in Tokyo, Japan for two blissful weeks and I’m back with a pretty big haul to show you! I went in with a small list of most recommended products because I really didn’t need to buy anything but still came back with a table full of kawaii (cute) makeup, skincare and random cat items! When shopping for cosmetics in Japan, look for the “#1” stickers that are usually in shiny foil right on the plastic packaging. It’s a safe bet if you want “the best” thing to buy. I generally stuck to popular drugstore items because they’re reasonably priced and they’ve been vouched for by millions of users through Cosme, a Japanese beauty community who rank products. I like to think of it like a Japanese Yelp but for beauty products. The haul below is probably what a lot of first-timers in Japan would also buy so check out to see if anything interests you! You can find most of these in the Matsumoto Kyoshi, Don Quiote, Loft (in Shibuya), and Ainz & Tuple. I plan to do a must-go shopping post in Tokyo too. Click below to see my 50+ items! Damn, I did that much damage.

Photo Tour MEGA POST: Tony Moly Flagship Opening in Ktown, NYC

Tony Moly NYC New York Flagship Last Bar

[UPDATE 8/2017] This is no longer a Tony Moly Flagship Store. It is now known as Kosette and sells multiple K-beauty brands such as It’s Skin, Too Cool For School, Innisfree and of course a ton of Tony Moly’s offerings. [Original Post] The cuteness mothership has arrived. Pandas, apples, bananas, peaches, snails and bunnies – REJOICE! I’ve had the pleasure of attending the VIP opening event for the Tony Moly Flagship Store opening on Friday, June 26, 2015. The celebration included a social media contest drawing, an in-store raffle, free gifts, hair/makeup makeovers and grand opening specials! This space was formerly the Koryo bookstore that also shared space with The Face Shop. When renovation was underway, The Face Shop moved a few stores down into a new storefront and I suppose this was the perfect opportunity for Tony Moly to take over Ktown! The entire space reopened with Kpop and books/media on the right side, Tony Moly on the left side and Shine 32 (Kpop style accessories and jewelry) taking up the second floor.

The Flagship boasts a Tony Moly Lifestyle experience because it has a hair styling and makeup area in the back where you can make private appointments for a makeup and skincare consultations.  There is also a Brow Lounge that displays their selection of false eyelashes and recommended brow makeup to complete your look.

The Flagship also operates the official U.S. ecommerce site,  if you’ll remember from my Chinatown Tony Moly Photo Tour, the site was still under construction! Now it’s officially opened for business so if you’re not located in New York City, this is where you can buy authentic product direct from Tony Moly and not through a distributor. Click on to see my photo tour of the new space and enter in my FIRST GIVEAWAY(more…)

Photo Tour: Where you can find The History of Whoo, O HUI & ISA KNOX in New York City

I’m adding a new location to my NYC Chinatown K-Beauty Shopping Guide, a small store simply called The Beauty Shop. It’s been in business for the last 10 years on 57 Division St. Store #C, NYC and has been an official distributor of The History of Whoo, O HUI and ISA KNOX – yes all this time!

The shop has two mini billboards of O HUI and The History of Whoo outside and I remember watching these signs change as new products rolled out growing up. I’m not really in the right budget range (or age range for that matter?) for these brands so I’ve never been curious enough to actually go in but ever since my Asian Beauty obsession has grown as with the popularity with these brands in the United States, I thought I would do a service to the online community and share this hidden gem (it’s not even listed on Yelp)!

NYC K-Beauty Shopping Guide (with Google Maps!)

If you’re making an effort to come to Manhattan Chinatown for K-Beauty/Asian Beauty shopping, I created a route for so you can visit these stores in one go. I’ve listed it in this particular order for best efficiency if you’re coming out of the Canal Street subway station 6, N, R, Q or Z trains. I plan to keep adding to this guide and I made a special Google Map with all these places listed! SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW THE MAP and see how you can print it out too. Bookmark/subscribe to my blog for updates!

Store Visit: New Tony Moly store in Chinatown, NYC!!!! (And it’s across the street from Nature Republic)

I was merely on my way to the subway station on Canal Street until I see Grand Opening store signage: TONY MOLY on Walker Street. WAHHHH?!?!?! When did THIS happen? I quickly popped in to interrogate the poor Sales Assistant. Why didn’t I know?! All these Korean mainstream beauty shops have been opening up like mad in the past year and none of them market their grand opening dates! Bloggers find out in some way or another and news slowly trickles down to the online community but by the time it gets to us, we miss their grand opening specials and no one’s happy! Argh!

I did my due diligence and I’m posting another delicious photo dump tour of the shop and asked the SA which items have been madly popular, about to sell out, grand opening specials and if there are any new items coming in. This Tony Moly has been opened for 2 months already (sounds like mid-Feb?). Click to view the cosmetic/skincare porn.  (more…)
