The cuteness mothership has arrived. Pandas, apples, bananas, peaches, snails and bunnies – REJOICE! I’ve had the pleasure of attending the VIP opening event for the Tony Moly Flagship Store opening on Friday, June 26, 2015. The celebration included a social media contest drawing, an in-store raffle, free gifts, hair/makeup makeovers and grand opening specials! This space was formerly the Koryo bookstore that also shared space with The Face Shop. When renovation was underway, The Face Shop moved a few stores down into a new storefront and I suppose this was the perfect opportunity for Tony Moly to take over Ktown! The entire space reopened with Kpop and books/media on the right side, Tony Moly on the left side and Shine 32 (Kpop style accessories and jewelry) taking up the second floor.
The Flagship boasts a Tony Moly Lifestyle experience because it has a hair styling and makeup area in the back where you can make private appointments for a makeup and skincare consultations. There is also a Brow Lounge that displays their selection of false eyelashes and recommended brow makeup to complete your look.
The Flagship also operates the official U.S. ecommerce site,if you’ll remember from my Chinatown Tony Moly Photo Tour, the site was still under construction! Now it’s officially opened for business so if you’re not located in New York City, this is where you can buy authentic product direct from Tony Moly and not through a distributor. If you read PART ONE of my Urban Outfitters Photo Tour, you’ll know that the Urban Outfitters in Herald Sq, New York City has the BIGGEST selection in Asian/Korean Beauty products out of any other UO in the states. In PART TWO of my Photo Tour in Urban Outfitters, I’d to focus on the Peach and Lily event where CEO/Founder Alicia Yoon gave one on one skincare consultations and a free swag bag. In ADDITION to your purchase, Urban Outfitters was also giving away free gifts with ANY purchase so there were two freebies in one purchase for their one year celebration at Herald Sq – AWESOME.
If you’ve been following me on Instagram then you probably already saw the event highlights already! Follow me for up the minute feeds. Click to read the entire post. (more…)
I made a visit at the Urban Outfitters on 1333 Broadway (b/t 35th & 36th Street), NYC back in March and I was stunned to find that their back section on the first floor was an impressive selection of Asian/Korean Beauty items from Skinfood, Mizon, The Face Shop, Be the Skin, Aromatica, Tony Moly, Peripera, Holika Holika, Goodal, DHC and Caolion. I had been meaning to go back and take better pictures since a few were blurry and it just so happens that UO was celebrating their #OneYear anniversary last Friday since its opening day in Herald Sq, New York City. I knew UO had started to stock Asian Beauty brands on their website but this particular location has the BEST SELECTION from these brands than any other UO. Seeing the testers in person always makes my heart skip a beat and the goosebumps follow right after (it’s silly but the heart knows what makes it pitter-patter).
In this post I want to first give my normal Photo Tour of the selection and note a bit on the prices/store inflation and/or availability elsewhere. Then PART TWO I reported on the #UOBeautyxPL event where Urban invited Peach and Lily Founder/CEO, Alicia Yoon, to speak to their Peachies one on one about what their skin care routine is potentially missing. The swag bag was GREAT! Click to reveal the full post of PART ONE! (more…)
I’m adding a new location to myNYC Chinatown K-Beauty Shopping Guide, a small store simply called The Beauty Shop. It’s been in business for the last 10 yearson 57 Division St. Store #C, NYC and has been an official distributor of The History of Whoo, O HUI and ISA KNOX – yes all this time!
The shop has two mini billboards of O HUI and The History of Whoo outside and I remember watching these signs change as new products rolled out growing up. I’m not really in the right budget range (or age range for that matter?) for these brands so I’ve never been curious enough to actually go in but ever since my Asian Beauty obsession has grown as with the popularity with these brands in the United States, I thought I would do a service to the online community and share this hidden gem (it’s not even listed on Yelp)!
If you’re making an effort to come to Manhattan Chinatown for K-beauty/Asian Beauty shopping, visit these other stores that are in the same area. I’ve listed it in this particular order for best efficiency if you’re coming out of the Canal Street subway station 6, N, R, Q or Z trains. I plan to keep adding to this guide and I made a special Google Map with all these places listed!!! SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW THE MAP and see how you can print it out too. Bookmark/subscribe to my blog for updates! I’m just making a quick post out of this for now since there was a reader referencing this on a forum!
