I’m back with a 360 Photo Tour of an OG K-beauty store in Chinatown, New York called oo35mm or “oh oh 35 millimeters”. oo35mm has been around since 2009 but they had sold more stationery, Sanrio items, and cute knick knacks from Asia. They sold skincare too but it was a much smaller selection and mostly within Japanese Beauty. The current store offerings has expanded with amazing selection within Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese Beauty – there are cult French and American brands too. Ever since K-beauty exploded in popularity over the last two years, oo35mm pretty much converted into an Asian Beauty skincare destination. They’re really on point with getting trending items and brands like Pyunkang Yul, and even stocking The Ordinary! Prices are reasonable and their stock is never boring. Take a peek in my photo tour and you can decide!
The Saem opened its first Manhattan/Chinatown location in February 2017 and it’s conveniently on the corner of Canal Street and Centre Street, inside the New Land Plaza building. I recommend coming to Chinatown in the morning for Asian/Korean Beauty shopping, eating an authentic Asian-style lunch, more K-Beauty and J-Beauty indulgence and then snacking on bubble tea or Chinese buns! There is also a Flushing branch but The Saem Manhattan is a pretty sizeable shop with three cosmetic hutches in the center and it carries the most popular products from Korea (I list a few to check out in my post)! The Saem I also have a really big surprise that I’m going to start rolling out across all my Photo Tour posts too… click to the exciting new feature that will add a new level of “touring” through these shops!
OH EM GEE. At the same time I was in the JKNLEE K-Beauty Sample Sale whirlwind, my sister-in-law told me about a new k-beauty store opening in – you guessed it – Chinatown, NYC. When she described to me that it was a huge, two level beauty emporium, I immediately went over there to inspect what might be the BIGGEST K-Beauty/Asian beauty palace in Manhattan now. I was in awe. It was like I was in a less crowded, high-end SaSa in Hong Kong. Everyday Beauty Lab is from the same chain as Everyday Beauty (locations in Flushing and Hester St.) and this mega-store houses everything from premium hanbang skincare, The History of Whoo, to a variety of fun and affordable items such as the Pure Smile “Will You Be A Cat/Dog” sheet masks. Come shopping with me and view my photo tour of 50+ pictures!
(CLOSED AS OF MAY 2017.) The Yeon on Mott Street, Chinatown is one of the newer stores that opened last year and has a variety of sheet masks, skincare and hair care stuffed inside this former Ten Ren Tea shop. Another mega-size Yeon store already sits in Flushing, Queens but it’s not worth an hour+ long train ride unless I plan to haul like a badass. Even though it’s 1/8 of its Flushing branch, it stocks a sufficient amount of products with quite a few non-Yeon products. This store is listed on my suggested route for k-beauty shopping in Chinatown since it’s easily in the same areas as my other favorite stores. Click on to see its full offering!
JKNLEE SALE UPDATE:
Your best bet at getting the best stock at the JKNLEE K-Beauty Sample Sale is by getting there as early as 10:30AM! There were some new things that were put out as I didn’t recognized some items (I crept by the window at night because they wouldn’t let you in past 6pm). They have a very organized way of allowing the maximum amount of people through the doors as a means of crowd control. Each shopper is handed a plastic shopping bag with a number on it and when the shopper pays and exits, a new shopper gets their chance inside. There’s someone monitoring the door at all times so I didn’t feel like it was chaotic at all. See my insider photos when you click to read more! View Post
