Pop-Up Shop Visit: Glow Recipe NYC Downtown Studio’s Last Week!

Glow_Recipe_Downtown_Studio_Pop_Up_COVERjpg

If you’re in NYC, you can visit Glow Recipe’s latest Pop-Up Shop in SoHo! They’re only open in the month of March 2017 and this is their last week before they’re only accessible online again. Well, some of their products are in Sephora and Nordstrom but that’s only a few! Glow Recipe curates natural and harsh-free skincare products hailing from Korea where brands have been producing skincare almost 14 years ahead of American technology. Going to a physical location is like a skincare playground! You get to test all the products through touch and smell, an experience you don’t have online. There were weekly events where special guests like Gothamista, @suninayoung, and @omgbart came in for special, free beauty classes (and some classes even came with free gifts). I’ve visited Glow Recipe’s temporary pop-ups before at KCON and in K-town but this was their best and biggest pop-up ever! If you can’t come, click below for a quick tour and a look at my haul! Review: Whamisa Real Sea Kelp Sheet Mask

There was the biggest buzz about the Whamisa Real Sea Kelp Sheet Mask over the summer because Whamisa uses REAL pieces of sea kelp cut into the shape of a sheet mask. It’s also soaked in a glorious essence full of skin-savers that claims to give you moisturization for 72 hours! Following the trend, Tony Moly quickly made a dupe that had an identical ingredient list and uses the same species of sea kelp however I couldn’t handle the putrid ocean/sea kelp smell and wouldn’t repurchase it. Despite the gagging I went through, the essence did as it promised and it brightened, moisturized and anointed me with radiance that lasted for two straight days. Since the essence proved its magic powers, I knew I had to get a Whamisa and compare the brands! It really made me curious to see if the $14 Whamisa splurge was worth it versus paying around $5 for a Tony Moly one. Spoiler: I was able to keep my lunch down this time around.  (more…)

Review: Lindsay Rubber Mask/Modeling Mask & One-on-One Chat with Sarah Lee from Glow Recipe!

Lindsay-Lavender-Rubber-Modeling-Mask-Review-Glow-Recipe(8) COVER

A couple weeks ago Glow Recipe held a rubber masking party at their offices on Park Ave! If you were lucky enough to grab a spot, you and four of your friends had the opportunity to try out a Lindsay Rubber Mask in their new Charcoal “flavor” along with any other Glow Recipe products that interested you. I saw their email in time and got a 2pm spot but little did I know that it was a very intimate one-on-one session with co-founder, Sarah Lee, when I arrived! I thought it was going to be more of a “party” atmosphere with other kbeauty fanatics testing products while Sarah or Christine guided us. Instead, I was talking to Sarah directly and it was such a treat getting a close look into her start-up adventure and listening to her advice on working in the beauty industry. The focus of the party was to learn more about Lindsay’s rubber/modeling masks and Sarah was a wealth of information; it made me pop my rubber masking cherry this weekend! Click to read more about my review and Sarah’s take on why Lindsay’s is the best rubber mask she ever came across.  (more…)
