I know I’m late with it. it’s August and I’m unmasking the July bag now but if you’ve read my posts before, they are detailed and take some time to edit photos and write! Please give me a birthday pass and excuse the lateness! If you’ve already seen the spoilers on Instagram then you’ll know that this month’s bag was da bomb dot com!
I wasn’t too impressed with Beauteque’s Mask Maven subscription because as a more advanced ABer (Asian Beauty user) the selection has been ho-hum and it was clear where they cut corners on some selections. The June Unboxing showed some indications that they were listening to customer feedback and made subscription improvements already. This month’s bag was even better (but there was one small snag in my order).
This is my fourth Mask Maven bag with Beauteque and I’m starting to see improvements over the subscription program since Mask Maven is a new subscription option that started March 2015. Firstly, their Info Card actually has benefits information for each mask (not just a generic “how-to-use” instructional card). Secondly, from their blog post, the June bag is themed! Prior bags did not have a theme and I felt like masks were just haphazardly thrown togeether. June’s theme is Anti-aging. Thirdly, I feel that the selection of masks improved a bit (no more poopie sheet masks please!).
This month, there was also a Thank You card personally signed by the Mask Maven Coordinator, Anna, acknowledging that they are listening to our comments about the subscription. Let’s go into this month’s “un-masking” to see the improvements and the 10 new masks I got!
Mishibox has finally launched in June 2015 with their first ever kbeauty stuffed box! I think this box will be great for someone who is just starting to experiment with kbeauty brands but probably not for someone who is more seasoned and passed the “kbeauty curve” – that is, someone who is has already hoarded and gone through piles of kbeauty products already. My first reaction to seeing the spoiler on instagram/facebook was “crap! I just bought that aloe gel two weeks ago!” Again, this is the not the right box for everyone! I will explain more in my post ahead. (more…)
I made a visit at the Urban Outfitters on 1333 Broadway (b/t 35th & 36th Street), NYC back in March and I was stunned to find that their back section on the first floor was an impressive selection of Asian/Korean Beauty items from Skinfood, Mizon, The Face Shop, Be the Skin, Aromatica, Tony Moly, Peripera, Holika Holika, Goodal, DHC and Caolion. I had been meaning to go back and take better pictures since a few were blurry and it just so happens that UO was celebrating their #OneYear anniversary last Friday since its opening day in Herald Sq, New York City. I knew UO had started to stock Asian Beauty brands on their website but this particular location has the BEST SELECTION from these brands than any other UO. Seeing the testers in person always makes my heart skip a beat and the goosebumps follow right after (it’s silly but the heart knows what makes it pitter-patter).
In this post I want to first give my normal Photo Tour of the selection and note a bit on the prices/store inflation and/or availability elsewhere. Then PART TWO I reported on the #UOBeautyxPL event where Urban invited Peach and Lily Founder/CEO, Alicia Yoon, to speak to their Peachies one on one about what their skin care routine is potentially missing. The swag bag was GREAT! Click to reveal the full post of PART ONE! (more…)
The second Mask Maven bag arrived early April but I didn’t get to “unbox” (unbag?) until now. There were lots of other reveals from bloggers but the unique thing is that we all can get different “flavors” of masks from the same series. This will be shorter than my last post, first impressions only.
First overall impression: I like this April bag a WHOLE lot better than their launch bag in March. It was so disappointing that their very first bag was half-full of lower quality masks that didn’t have a great ingredients list, i.e. their star ingredients listed at the very bottom of the list. This made me question my commitment to a 6-month subscription but the April bag is keeping me hopeful for May.
