BREAKING: There is a Whamisa Real Sea Kelp Sheet Mask DUPE
Two weeks ago I was browsing on my favorite etailer, RoseRoseShop, and noticed that they stocked a new sheet mask made out of 100% SEA KELP from TonyMoly. TonyMoly released a new sheet mask line called Earth Beauty but it’s pretty much a copycat line of popular sheet masks that have changed the landscape of sheetmasking including a bubbling sheet mask, a rice paper mask with a gel essence that you pour into a tray and a mud peeling sheet mask that’s supposed to be a thin layer of mud which dries and pulls out pore gunk. This is PART ONE of my 4-PART SERIES reviewing all the new masks in the Earth Beauty line.
Whamisa Sea Kelp Sheet Mask DUPE!
One of Glow Recipe‘s cult products is the Whamisa Organic Sea Kelp Mask but it’s a very expensive one-time use mask priced at $14 USD. I jumped at the chance to try this more affordable option so I can see what this new sheet mask trend is all about. I made sure that it was a SEA KELP mask made out of sea kelp and not a cotton sheet mask with sea kelp essence. I’m going to try and compare the two as closely as I can even though I don’t have the Whamisa one. I looked like a rejected cast member from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I certainly smelled like I came from the sewer but I’m going to let the results do the talking. Read on for the full review.
This is my fourth Mask Maven bag with Beauteque and I’m starting to see improvements over the subscription program since Mask Maven is a new subscription option that started March 2015. Firstly, their Info Card actually has benefits information for each mask (not just a generic “how-to-use” instructional card). Secondly, from their blog post, the June bag is themed! Prior bags did not have a theme and I felt like masks were just haphazardly thrown togeether. June’s theme is Anti-aging. Thirdly, I feel that the selection of masks improved a bit (no more poopie sheet masks please!).
This month, there was also a Thank You card personally signed by the Mask Maven Coordinator, Anna, acknowledging that they are listening to our comments about the subscription. Let’s go into this month’s “un-masking” to see the improvements and the 10 new masks I got!
If you’re not familiar with what Mask Maven is, read my Mask Maven introduction post. View Post
I know I’m VERY late to post the May Mask Maven bag since I already received the June one but I honestly contemplated in not even doing a review for May since it was just OKAY (also because of other things going on in my life like finding a new job and going to Vegas for a bachelorette getaway). However after receiving the June Mask Maven, I noticed Beauteque improved on some things I felt were lacking in their new subscription service endeavors. For records sake, I’m posting the May Mask Maven and some initial thoughts and
I will definitely post a June review before the month is over like a good blogger should. Yea, that didn’t happen but you should still read June’s review, haha. View Post
If you read PART ONE of my Urban Outfitters Photo Tour, you’ll know that the Urban Outfitters in Herald Sq, New York City has the BIGGEST selection in Asian/Korean Beauty products out of any other UO in the states. In PART TWO of my Photo Tour in Urban Outfitters, I’d to focus on the Peach and Lily event where CEO/Founder Alicia Yoon gave one on one skincare consultations and a free swag bag. In ADDITION to your purchase, Urban Outfitters was also giving away free gifts with ANY purchase so there were two freebies in one purchase for their one year celebration at Herald Sq – AWESOME.
If you’ve been following me on Instagram then you probably already saw the event highlights already! Follow me for up the minute feeds. Click to read the entire post. View Post
I made a visit at the Urban Outfitters on 1333 Broadway (b/t 35th & 36th Street), NYC back in March and I was stunned to find that their back section on the first floor was an impressive selection of Asian/Korean Beauty items from Skinfood, Mizon, The Face Shop, Be the Skin, Aromatica, Tony Moly, Peripera, Holika Holika, Goodal, DHC and Caolion. I had been meaning to go back and take better pictures since a few were blurry and it just so happens that UO was celebrating their #OneYear anniversary last Friday since its opening day in Herald Sq, New York City. I knew UO had started to stock Asian Beauty brands on their website but this particular location has the BEST SELECTION from these brands than any other UO. Seeing the testers in person always makes my heart skip a beat and the goosebumps follow right after (it’s silly but the heart knows what makes it pitter-patter).
This Urban Outfitters location on 1333 Broadway (b/t 35 & 36th Street), NYC is secretly chock full of Asian/K-Beauty goods – tell your moms! Tell your cats!
In this post I want to first give my normal Photo Tour of the selection and note a bit on the prices/store inflation and/or availability elsewhere. Then PART TWO I reported on the #UOBeautyxPL event where Urban invited Peach and Lily Founder/CEO, Alicia Yoon, to speak to their Peachies one on one about what their skin care routine is potentially missing. The swag bag was GREAT! Click to reveal the full post of PART ONE! View Post
