NYC K-Beauty Shopping Guide (with Google Maps!)

NYC K-Beauty Shopping Guide (with Google Maps!)

Beauty shopping in NYC is heaven! We have a slew of choices but you only have a limited amount of time so here’s a guide to make the most of your trip to the Big Apple! The original intention of this guide was to make shopping in Chinatown, NY easier but since the number of stores have multiplied over the years, I’ve included stores according to neighborhoods, Koreatown (around 32nd Street and 5th Ave), Union Square/East Village/Soho and Chinatown. I plan to keep adding to this guide and I made a special Google Map with all these places listed! SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW THE MAP and see how you can print it out too. Bookmark/subscribe to my blog for updates!

Chinatown, New York

If you’re making an effort to come to Manhattan Chinatown for K-Beauty/Asian Beauty shopping, I created a route for so you can visit these stores in one go. I’ve listed it in this particular order for best efficiency if you’re coming out of the Canal Street subway station 6, N, R, Q or Z trains.

  • The Mask Bar, 37 Howard St, New York, NY 10013
If you get out of the N, Q, R, W train stop at Canal Street which exits on Broadway and Canal, you should walk over to The Mask Bar first but if happen to get out of the 6 train exit, you can probably afford to miss the Mask Bar since there will be other stores along this route that also offer popular sheet masks.
  • The Saem, 234 Canal St, New York, NY 10013
(Corner of the New Land Plaza building)
    MY 360 PHOTO TOURThe_Saem_NYC_Manhattan_Chinatown_Kbeauty
Closest to the train station, starting here makes the most sense.
This is opened around February 2017 and it’s there’s also a bigger Flushing location as well! The layout is very spacious and the sales associates aren’t pushy and very helpful. They give a ton of samples with your purchase and have frequent deals on sheet masks.

  • Nature Collection Nature Republic, 151 Centre St, New York, NY 10013
(b/t Walker St & Canal St)
naturerepublicyelp_nyc_chinatown_kbeauty_webDisappointingly this is not really a Nature Republic store anymore as it sells other brands and hardly houses much stock on actual Nature Republic items. It’s now been renamed as Nature Collections since it’s finally revealed itself to be a third party K-beauty reseller. It’s small but stocks a lot of trending products on its shelves. There’s an authentic full blown Nature Republic on Union Sq. or in K-town too that’s under direct ownership from the Nature Republic corporate offices in Korea. Go to Union Sq or Koreatown for the real Nature Republic experience. Chinatown Yelp (Thumbnail credit to yelp)

    (Inside New Land Plaza building)

    MY PHOTO TOUR
It’s across the street from Nature Republic and a bit tucked away from the touristy Canal Street because it’s actually inside the New Land Plaza building (entrance to the shared building is on Canal but the true entrance to the storefront is on Walker Street. All products are authentic Tony Moly although you might be able to find a few things cheaper at BesFren Beauty.

    MY PHOTO TOUR
Sheet masks and cleansers galore here. Leaders Insolution, My Beauty Diary, Mediheal, and Japanese skincare selection is heavy. Hardly any makeup except for Japanese eyeliners and a few BB creams (IPKN, Dr. Jart). Popular J-Beauty brand, Hada Labo’s full collection is here.

  • oo35mm, 81 Mott St, 2nd Fl New York, NY 10013 (b/t Canal St & Bayard St) IMG_5576_oo35mm_Chinatown_kbeauty_web
This store has a lot of photos on yelp already. They are very on-trend and have a good pulse on the market. They carry low to high-end products ranging from Japanese to Korean beauty (and even carrying The Ordinary from The Deciem). It’s on the second floor and they manage to carry a lot of items in those white little cubbies. All the newest items hot that are being talked about are probably in stock here first. It’s my local favorite!

(b/t Canal St & Bayard St)
Spacious store, bigger than the K-town location. the face shop chinatown nyc new york city mott streetThey will give you a 10% Student Discount with valid student ID. Pretty good with giving you free samples and they also have a membership card specific to the Chinatown location.

  • Everyday Beauty Lab, 115 Bowery, New York, NY 10002Everyday Beauty Lab Photo Tour Store Visit K-beauty Chinatown NYC
    MY PHOTO TOUR
This is the first two-level Asian beauty emporium in Manhattan filled with a very wide selection in sheet masks and carries products that range from the very affordable to the very premium likes of The History of Whoo, O HUI, Isa Knox and Sooreyhan. What it lacks in makeup, it makes up for in skincare and false eyelashes. Note that it does not carry Missha skincare like its Everyday Beauty parent company but it carries Missha’s color cosmetics. Update 2018: The storefront has been updated, Shiseido has its counter now.
    Yelp

  • Amore (Aritaum), 7 Catherine St, New York, NY 10002
    MY PHOTO TOURIMG_4558_Amore_Chinatown_Kbeauty_web
They carry IOPE, Laneige, Sulwhasoo and a few items from Aritaum and Mamonde! The Aritaum site advertises that its products are sold along with its brothers and sisters under this operation name, Amore. Although “Amore” hints that it might carry the Amore Pacific line, it doesn’t and instead carries the company’s sub-lines as mentioned above. (You can find Amore Pacific at Sephora or Bergdorf Goodman.) There are a bunch of these Amore stores in Flushing in one in 8th Ave Brooklyn but this Amore location in Chinatown is the newest one (opened in 2013).

  • Nature Collection (FKA The Beauty Shop), 57 Division St, Manhattan, NY 10002IMG_4445_TheBeautyShop_Web MY PHOTO TOUR
This shop has been distributing The History of Whoo, O HUI and ISA KNOX for the last 10 years. It’s a small hidden gem selling some of Korea’s most premium brands. Now that Everyday Beauty Lab opened, you don’t have to go deep
into this local neighborhood to get your hands on delicious “hanbang” skincare. This was formerly name The Beauty Shop and they recently expanded into the smaller corner store and rebranded as Nature Collection! I’ll update soon with a new exterior shot.

  • Fuzhou Pharmacy, 96 E. Broadway, Manhattan, NY 10002
This pharmacy is actually PACKED with sheet mask boxes from My Scheming (owned by the behemoth company of Taiwanese sheet masks, My Beauty Diary). They are generally a little cheaper than MBD because they aren’t as popular but the ingredients list is pretty solid all around with active ingredients in the top to middle of the list (meaning IMG_5715_Fuzhou_Pharmacy_Kbeauty_Webthat there is higher concentration of the ingredients that count in effectiveness). They also stock a ton of Japanese skincare too but nothing that you probably wouldn’t have already found in New Kam Man. Come here to stock up on My Scheming and yes, they carry MBD by the boxes too. They should have a Buy 3 boxes get 1 Free deal at $10.99/box. If you walked ALL WAY HERE at the end of the k-beauty map, you can either walk back towards Canal St subway or take the F train at East Broadway (1 block away) to your next destination!

Koreatown, New York

I added another Layer to include some awesome locations in Koreatown too! Click on the list button on the upper left-hand corner to check the Koreatown layer or uncheck the Chinatown depending on which area you want to zoom in.

Thank you so much for doing this! I starting reading up on KB over a week ago. I work in TriBeCa and visited the TonyMoly on Lafayette (found via Yelp). Then I found you through FanservicedB. Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much for the nice comment! Yes, I wanted this to be a one-stop resource for kbeauty shopping in Chinatown since I know the area can really intimidating for tourists and even local NYers who don’t really come down here to shop. There are so many treasures here that I wanted to make it easier for everyone to discover and enjoy! This also helps local businesses survive because we’re always getting priced out with rising rents. Thanks for the support!

Just to let you (and other readers) know, The Yeon on Division St. has closed recently. It’s been replaced by a medicinal/dried herb shop.

    • December 30, 2015 / 2:27 PM

Oh yes, I walked by the store last week and forgot that I needed to update this! Thanks for the reminder! I knew it wasn’t doing well because of the location and there was never any foot traffic on Division. Glad they moved to Mott St!

Hey, just wanted to let you and your readers know that Fuzhou Pharmacy is no longer offering that Buy 3 Get 1 promo. I went there today and that’s what they told me. :T They sell My Scheming boxes (single type) for $12.99 each now.

    • March 4, 2016 / 12:20 AM

Oh that’s a shame! They had that deal up for so long too! Thanks for the update and I hope you still got what you came in for I hope?

Thank you so much for this! I’m coming to visit soon and will be making about monthly trips for 6 months for work. I’m definitely utilizing this map on the next one but any recs of meetups or other ways to tap into the community of my fellow beauty enthusiasts in nyc? I just started my beauty instagram

    • October 4, 2017 / 4:29 PM

Hi Kim and thanks for the nice comment! Definitely start engaging with others on IG, there’s a tight knit and welcoming community there! Are you also on the Reddit Asian Beauty subreddit? We like to plan for meet-ups there and you can search for the threads and contact the OP (Original Poster) about meetups. There is also a Asian Beauty Facebook Group that has a ton of chatter on K-Beauty as well! https://www.facebook.com/groups/512151165580093/ Hope to see you around!
