SooAE Hemp Dreams Line Review (available at CVS)

SooAe-Hemp-Dreams-Kbeauty-CVS-Review

SooAE dropped in select CVS stores end of 2019 and I was invited to their launch party in Union Square, NYC to celebrate with them! They featured a ton of old and new lines at their Green Garden themed party but this post will review the Hemp Dreams line which features hemp seed oil as the star ingredient. Hemp seed oil is moisturizing and nourishing for skin and their line is suitable for all skin type, especially for those on the drier side. I was gifted the entire line and tried all products on and off for about two months. Below are my quick thoughts, in order starting with my favorites!

Hemp Dreams Oil Mist, $17

This is by far the BEST item from this line in my opinion! I didn’t think this would be my favorite but everything from the fine micro mist, to the bi-phase layer of hemp seed oil and the dewy, hydrated finish on my skin – this mist is a WINNER. This is a quality product I would definitely recommend to others. You can use it as a toner or to prime your face for makeup by spraying it on your sponge or brush too!

It has a ton of fruit and plant extracts like Licorice Root, Mulberry, and Ginseng Berry which has many brightening and anti-oxidants benefits. This mist is light and oh-so-nourishing. I cannot get over how micro-fine the mist is – I just love it and would purchase this myself after I’m done with it. And the light fragrance also makes it an enjoyable experience.

SooAe-Hemp-Dreams-Kbeauty-Mud-Mask
SooAE’s Mud Mask is very nourishing and softens skin as it claims. TIP: don’t let it dry completely because it will tug on skin too much.

Hemp Dreams Mud Mask, $5

This came in an individual one-time use pouch but I can stretch it for two or three uses. I like this mask because I can truly tell it nourished my skin with hemp seed oil. I don’t like to wear mud masks to the point where it dries down and starts to tug on my skin so wear it for 15 minutes tops, then wash off. Putting the mask on, it feels so rich and moist, I can already tell it’s drenching my face with oils. The mud contains Kaolin clay which is known to draw out impurities like dirt and oils from pores as it begins to dry. The mask is very thick, you can see on my photo that you can barley distinguish it from my actual skin. The results were amazing. I loved how it made my skin smooth and supple.

Hemp Dreams Sheet Mask, $5

Another one-time use product, this is another product I’d recommend you pick up for a quick and effective way to hydrate skin during winter months. The mask claims to deliver softer texture and I confirm that the results were just that! I also like this line’s signature fragrance, it’s very calming and not overwhelming. The sheet mask material adhered to skin like a dream and the essence didn’t leave a film or residue – it only left a hydrated and bouncy face!

Hemp Dreams Serum, $19

Now onto items I felt were just okay. The serum is a milky texture and was light enough for night or day time wear. I tested this during winter months but I think it may be more suitable for warmer months as it’s not ultra moisturizing for the severely dry. You definitely need to layer this with a face cream or sleeping pack on top in order to maximize the hemp seed oil from it. I feel like this works as a basic moisturizing serum for those who aren’t fussy. I’m pausing on this to use during the summer.

Hemp Dreams Oil Cleanser, $19

I love oil-cleansing. I don’t have to use a cotton pad like I would with micellar water and I can wash my makeup off right in the shower and see the satisfying streaks of mascara/foundation run down the drain. However, I felt this was a basic oil cleanser that did a basic job in cleansing off makeup. It was okay in taking off waterproof mascara, I still experienced flecks of mascara staying on my lashes. The consistency is more drippy than others but it didn’t burn my eyes. I was able to use this on my bottom waterline. I can take it or leave it.

Hemp Dreams Clay Scrub, $16

This is actually a 2-in-1 product! Although this may sound exciting, I’m conflicted with how I feel with this one. That mud mask I liked so much? It probably has the same mud formula so it’s assuring that I actually have more of it in this tube. The downside? Although there is high versatility that it can be worn as a mask and used as a clay scrub, it uses walnut shell powder as its physical exfoliator like a version of St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I learned walnut shell powder can be pretty damaging to the skin since the texture is very sharp and can cause micro-tears. I make sure I’m very gentle in scrubbing before rinsing off. Also, the $16 price is a lot steeper than a $6 tube of St. Ives.

Hemp Dreams All In One Moisturizer, $19

I’m not a fan of this face cream because it’s way too thick for my liking. It uses Shea Butter and Beeswax which explains why it’s thicker than a watery gel cream I crave. I would use this as a sleeping pack to seal the rest of the routine but I think this is a basic cream and not something I’d reach for given the other watery sleeping packs I own. This is skippable.

Hemp Dreams Hand Cream, $7

Also not a fave because of how thick it is as I also spot Beeswax in the ingredient list. I felt like it sat on top of my dry, winter hands and I did not enjoy using it. My hands still felt like sandpaper with a cream layered on top. I’ve used much better hand creams before. Pass.
