Glow Recipe K-Beauty Masterclass at NYC’s Samsung 837

Glow Recipe Kbeauty Masterclass Samsung 837

Glow Recipe occasionally hosts K-beauty masterclasses with Sarah Lee and Christine Chang speaking at the event directly. I remember my first masterclass with them before they ever held their Soho Pop-Up, before they were featured on Shark Tank. They held their first masterclass at a hair salon in K-town where they brought in my favorite celebrity nail artist, Eunkyung Park, creator of Unistella. I’m so proud now to see their masterclasses being held at such a cool and high-tech venue such as Samsung 837 in the trendiest part of town, Meatpacking District. Sarah and Christine have really taken wild strides most notably with their own branded products that pretty much broke the Internet: the Watermelon Sleeping Pack, Watermelon Moisturizer and Blueberry Cleanser. I’m actually quite surprised that these two Girl Bosses are still personally speaking at their masterclasses as I imagine they’re both quite busy jet-setting, running their business while trying to spend time with their family. After all their hard work and rise to success, they both still remember me from their early days (I was able to say a personal hello after the session). See my YouTube video of the event! Please give a comment or a like so I can see if these videos are worth editing (they take a bitch-ass long time).

YouTube Recap

I’m really late with posting this because my wedding is in 3 weeks! Please like it and comment if you want me to continue making these event recaps. Are reviews more helpful? I figure YouTube is sort of flooded with reviews and no one really posts on #kbeauty events. Then again, events happen and go away – are users searching to see these again and again? Are vlogs better than reviews? I’m still figuring this out on my own! A little help from actual viewers will be useful. Thanks!

Address: 837 Washington Street, New York, NY

Samsung 837 is an event space and demo area to test the newest Samsung products in VR and AR. They can also hold concerts and dance parties! I went to the first masterclass and Glow Recipe actually held a second one bringing in makeup artist, Katie Jane Hughes, to share her glow tips in an Instagram Live session. These events have been a little varied so you’re not getting the exact same tips if you’re a GR fan.

If you missed a class you can read their tips on Glow Recipe’s blog as there are plenty of guides that they presented at the masterclass. Posts like their 7 Skin Method trend, the importance of cleansing, and skincare that can multi-task are a few places to start.

Past Glow Recipe Masterclasses

I’ve been a fan of Glow Recipe since 2015 when I first starting blogging and attending events around New York City. One of the first times I’ve met them was at KCON 2015 when Christine Chang held down the tent! I got to meet her in person and chat a little bit about the emerging K-Beauty scene. I tried some of their first beauty curations such as the famous Whamisa sea kelp mask and Lindsay modeling masks (which by the way are still strong best-sellers).

Their first masterclass/pop-up that I can remember was in a chic and modern K-town hair salon. It was very intimate where there were only 40 or so seats and you can demo and touch testers right on the spot. Sarah Lee talked about K-beauty trends and one of them being the benefits of the tremella mushroom ingredient and how it can hold 500 times its weight in water. They held a meet and greet with Unistella creator, Eunkyung Park, who I’m STILL obsessing over since I became aware of her shattered glass nail art. Unistella is still killing it with new nail trends like wired nails but still keeping her looks minimalistic yet edgy. She’s still highly relevant today as she’s battling out rights over her own nail designs with Sally Hansen.
